For any and all who did not watch or participate in the badminton tournament over the weekend of Feb. 27-28, there should be a gaping hole in your existence because in truth you missed an excellent tournament.
On Saturday, 20 teams were divided into four pools, competing for top seeds and also avoiding elimination. On Sunday, the top 16 teams went into a single elimination bracket with some intense ferocity.
Don’t take badminton too lightly; it’s a little harder than it looks to hit a shuttlecock over a 5-foot net, and slightly belittling to slam it as hard as you can and have it fly a meager 20 feet. But no worries, these teams were pro. As the tournament progressed to the final game, it was a showdown between seniors Reed Coast and Paul Neff of Beerminton, versus juniors Ben Hamming and Marc Rollins of Roomies.
In the end the Roomies came out victorious, defeating Beerminton in two games, 15-12 and 15-11 respectively. Yet if you missed out on badminton, don’t despair. You can redeem your existence by signing up for the Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament at 10-1 Fun on Friday, March 12. See you then!
