A handful of students started spring semester strong on the weekend of Feb. 13-14, participating in Jokgu, the first intramural tournament of the new semester. A combination of volleyball rules and soccer skills, Jokgu can pose as a daunting obstacle to even the most confident of soccer players. I was thoroughly impressed with the skill that these five teams brought to the tournament, with participants from across campus as well as several players from both the Whitworth men and women soccer teams. In the first day of competition, each team played each other, with The Torrrritoes taking the top seed with a 4-0 record. The Sunday competition was a single elimination between the top four teams, the final being played between The Torrrritoes and the Chileros. After a fantastic two games, the Chileros came out on top, winning the tournament through determination and outstanding teamwork. This unique competition between several groups of various athletes was indeed a success. If you weren’t able to attend I must say you missed out.
