Heading into Spring Break, some athletic teams are venturing to warmer climates to escape the crispness of Spokane. The men's and women's Track and Field team will take the long bus ride down to San Diego to compete at the Point Loma Nazarene Invitational. On the banks of the Pacific the Bucs will aim to qualify more members for outdoor nationals.
Both men's and women's tennis teams will also make a swing down to the Golden State. Over the course of four days the men's team will take on Point Loma, UC Santa Cruz, Whittier, and Occidental College before returning to the NWC matches. Currently the team sits at an overall mark of 5-7. The NWC undefeated women's tennis teams will have matches against Cal Lutheran, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, and Chapman University. The team sits on a 10-2 overall record.
The Pirate softball team descends into the desert to play nine games over four days in Tucson, Ariz. During this stretch the team will play teams from around the nation before returning to conference play the following week against George Fox.
Nearby in Tempe Ariz., the men's golf team will take part in a tournament hosted by Arizona State University. The team finished first in the Whitman invitational in Moses Lake leading up to this event.
Holding down the Northwest fort, the baseball team enjoys no luxuries of far away travels. However, for a team that spent five out of the last six weeks on the road, "home" is a luxury in itself. The Bucs host Lewis & Clark this coming weekend before traveling to Lewis-Clark State for a mid-week game followed by road games at Linfield.
Enjoy the break, recharge, and be sure to follow all Pirate athletics this springs.
