This weekend both Men's and Women's Basketball teams return to the Fieldhouse. On Friday, Feb. 12, the Bucs will host the University of Puget Sound. The Men's start time will be bumped up to 5:30 p.m. due to the television broadcast of the game by SWX. Whitworth has jumped to number eight in the D-III national polls and are riding an eighteen game win streak. Last weekend the Bucs claimed the number one seed for the conference tournament which gets under way following the final conference games on Feb. 20. For the women, both games this weekend are pivotal. The Lady Bucs are sitting on a 7-5 conference record and are a game back of third place in the Northwest Conference behind Lewis and Clark. To make the post-season they need to finish in the top three in conference. These games will determine their post-season aspirations and the task will be increasingly difficult as UPS enters Friday's game second in conference with a record of 10-2. The Women's game will tip at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday the Men's game with Pacific Lutheran University is set for 4 p.m. followed by the Women's game at 6 p.m.

Along with basketball the kick-off to the home spring sports season gets under way this weekend. The defending NWC Women's Tennis team kicks-off their season with matches against UPS and PLU. Matches on Friday will begin at 4 p.m. in the Tennis Bubble against the Lutes. Saturday's matches will start at 1 p.m. versus UPS. On the west side of the Cascades the Men's Tennis team will also begin NWC play with matches at PLU and UPS.
