Friday, Oct. 30 will mark a break in the action for all students as they enjoy the much-needed Fall Break at Whitworth. This luxury, however, will not be extended to the fall sport athletes.
Both the men’s and women’s soccer teams will be on the Oregon Trail to take on the Linfield Wildcats and the Willamette Bearcats. During the matches at home, the Whitworth women earned consecutive 1-0 victories. The men put away Willamette early, but shaved away a 3-2 victory over Linfield. Going into the weekend, both teams will battle to maintain their conference records and keep their playoff aspirations alive.
Volleyball will go on the road to Pacific Lutheran and the University of Puget Sound. This time, they will take their redemption with them. Both PLU and UPS defeated the Bucs 3-0 at home. However, lately the team has found momentum and won four out of their last five matches. This will be their final road trip before returning to Whitworth for their final matches of the season.
For those vowing to stay put at Whitworth for Fall Break, do not miss the Pirate football team as they host the PLU Lutes. This rivalry is always action packed and competitive. While every game is always close, the Bucs haven’t lost in the series since 2003. At that time, this year’s graduating class were sophomores in high school. Don’t miss the action as the Bucs aim to continue their series domination.
