Who are you?
I'm a pretty loud and relatively sarcastic guy from the west side of the state. I went to Oak Harbor High School in Oak Harbor, Wash. and am very happy to have left. It's my second year at Whitworth. I transferred from Northwest University. I like it here a lot more. Hooray.
What do you do and why is it important?
I'm a dorm senator, which means I serve as liaison between my dorm and ASWU at the weekly meetings. If the people in my dorm have any issues with policy or things related to the school in general, they let me know and I then pass on that information. It's important because it means people get to be heard, and who doesn't like that?
What main issues or ideas do you hope to focus on while you serve on ASWU?
I hope, more than anything, that the people living in Duvall aren't afraid to approach me about things. Already, I've had some people come up and ask about something or another, which is really encouraging to me because it means SOMEONE had to know who I was and what I do. I hope that I can accurately relay the concerns of the people I live with.
What is at least one common misconception about your work or ASWU?
That we do nothing but sweatshirts or newsletters.
What is important for students to know about your work?
I can't do my job unless they tell me what's up. People need to know to talk to me (or anyone else in ASWU, really), to evoke change.
