Who are you?
I was born in Germany, but spent most of my life in Lakewood, Wash., near McChord AFB. I am the oldest of five siblings, enjoy hanging out and getting to know new people. At Whitworth I have been cheering for four years and have been part of ASWU for about two years.
What do you do and why is it important?
I plan events that highlight the cultural diversity of students on campus and any unique events going on in the Spokane community. he biggest event I do is working with clubs to plan Cultural Awareness Week. This job is important because it brings exciting events to campus that students may not be used to.
What main issues or ideas do you hope to focus on while you serve on ASWU?
I hope to help in the education of the different cultures present on campus. I also want to do more work to draw attention to the religious diversity that we have on campus, so that ALL people feel welcome at Whitworth, not just Christians.
What is at least one common misconception about your work or ASWU?
The misconception about my job is that all my work is for ethnic minorities. As cultural events coordinator it is my job to highlight all diversities - ethnic, religious, sexual orientation, musical, etc. So, if you have cool ideas come see me.
What is important for students to know about your work?
It?s important for students to know that I am here to work for THEM. I prefer to hear ideas from students rather then come up with my own. If there?s a cool performer you would like to see, get me their information and I will do my best to work something out. I want people to be excited about my events and have fun! Come by to visit any time.
