Pirates blowout Bulldogs, win tournament title

MVP Symes leads men's basketball to Lee Fulmer Classic championship

The Whitworth Pirates (4-1) headed to Southern California Thursday to play in the 60th Annual Lee Fulmer Classic and headed home victorious, winning all three games by a margin of more than 26 points.

On Thursday the Pirates took down Southwestern College (Ariz.) 90-64. The next day, Whitworth plastered Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (Calif.) 73-45 before taking on tournament host University of Redlands in the championship game. Whitworth ran all over the Bulldogs, winning 93-58.

Senior forward Ryan Symes took home some hardware winning the tournament's Most Valuable Player award and senior forward Colin Willemsen was named to the All-Tournament team.
