Monstars can't scare up victory
Life Without Zach rolls in intramural basketball playoffs
Jordan Rusk, Staff WriterThursday, Nov. 28, Life Without Zach set out for redemption with a rematch against the Monstars in the Power League semifinals.
The Monstars, who finished the regular season with a 5-3 record, were the only team who had defeated first place Life Without Zach coming into Thursday’s game.
“They were able to beat us in the regular season, but it’s always nice to get a win in the playoffs.” Life Without Zach junior Chad Flett said, as his team sailed over the Monstars 72-43.
There were several bright spots for the Monstars throughout the game, but even after three consecutive 3-pointers in the last three minutes by sophomore team captain Jared Vogel, the gap was too much to make up.
“I can’t imagine playing with anyone else. These guys are great players, great athletes and great friends,” Vogel said.
The sophomore Monstars are in their second year together after winning the championship last year as freshmen.
“Today’s game was nowhere near a disappointment,” Monstars sophomore Blair Daly said. “We’ll see you in the spring.”
Life Without Zach is also in their second year together and now the clear favorite to win the championship Sunday, Dec. 2, at 10 p.m. in the Whitworth Fieldhouse.
“We’re exactly right where we should be,” Life Without Zach senior Ryan Snell said.
