The men remain in first place in the Northwest Conference with a win on Friday, Nov. 16 over Lewis & Clark College and another victory over Willamette University on Saturday, Nov. 17.

The Pirates took first in nine of the 11 events in Portland. One of the stand-out performances of the day was in the 1,000-yard freestyle when junior Tom Radke took first by nearly a full two minutes.

Whitworth continued its success in freestyle with the top four finishers in the 100-yard freestyle. The Pirates had the same result in the 100-yard breaststroke with sophomore Quinton Darling placing first.

Against Willamette there was more of the same dominance as the Pirates won convincingly 132-45. In the 200-yard freestyle Whitworth men took the top three spots with freshman Michael Woodward finishing first more than 15 seconds before the first Willamette swimmer could touch the wall.

Also notable was the performance put in by senior Bryan Clarke, who narrowly snatched first place from Willamette in the 50-yard freestyle.

With both wins over the weekend Whitworth, improves their conference consecutive win streak to 53. The Pirates will travel to Federal Way, Wash. to compete in the Husky Invitational on Nov. 30 through Dec. 2.
