After a host of games this past week, intramural volleyball continued to be dominated by the elite teams in the league. 8 John and the North Side Boys, The Worst Team Ever and Die Nasty are all undefeated so far this season, placing them firmly atop the league standings.

On the other hand, the majority of the teams are trying to catch up. The all Baldwin-Jenkins freshman team, Phat Kids Who Love Cake, are staying strong with a 5-2 record, while Team Awesome and Team Fun are still winless.

Sunday, Nov. 11, the Happy Trees got their first win by disqualification against Hit That Trash, and The Worst Team Ever faced off against 1-5 Whatever Works to try and stay undefeated.

Although Whatever Works was a definite underdog going into Sunday’s game against The Worst Team Ever, the team wound up stealing the first game of the match. The Worst Team Ever played a few players down, so Whatever Works tried to take advantage of their inability to cover the whole court.

“We only had four players so it was kind of a sloppy game,” The Worst Team Ever team captain Carl Chan said.

The Worst Team Ever fought back after losing their first match, sweeping the final two to keep their undefeated record in tact. Although Whatever Works could not pull out a victory last Sunday, they showed some major signs of improvement going into the end of the regular season and will look to make some noise in the playoffs.

Chan said despite the team's struggle against a winless team, The Worst Team Ever enjoyed the competition.

It was a lot of fun, and we all had a good time,” Chan said.
