INTRAMURAL REPORT: Intramurals near halfway mark
Jordan Rusk, Staff WriterAs Basketball and Volleyball prepare to get underway later this week, Ultimate Frisbee and Soccer continue to rage.
In Frisbee, the challenge league standings have begun to fill out as Baldwin’s Hobbiton Hillbillies sit above the pack at 7-0. The Happy Trees from BJ beat the Avengers in the only game of the weekend 14-4, threatening to compete with their cross dorm rivals.
All the teams within the Power league continue to fight for the top spot. Close games include last Tuesday’s 10-9 win for the Ninja Turtles who barely slid by the Square Bears. Mutombo was delivered its first loss Thursday losing to Royalty while undefeated Kamchatka continues to roll over teams including a rout of Threat Level Midnight Thursday night.
“In fours years of playing Power league Frisbee I’ve never seen a team as good as Kamchatka. You could take all the best players from all the other teams and take on Kamchatka and they’d still probably win,”said Ozzie Crocco, captain of the Ninja Turtles.
Soccer continues onward with both Power and Challenge leagues posting blowouts. On Wednesday, the power league featured the Average Joe’s wiping up team Peace Keepers 11-2 and the 007 Mafia doubling the score against Straight Thugz, 6-3.
In the challenge league, the Honkers closed Tuesday with an 8-3 blast of the Slug Bugs. Last placed Promiscuous Pinecones beat the undefeated Team Woorsack Tuesday to pick up their first win and the upset. Freshman Daniel Kaufman led the way with five of the team’s six goals.
“It wasn’t five good goals, it was five good assists,” Kaufman said.
