Whitworth women's soccer won a hard fought 2-1 battle against Pacific Lutheran University in overtime in Tacoma on Saturday to remain undefeated this season.

The first half was plagued by controversy as the referees awarded Pacific Lutheran two penalty kicks despite the eighth-ranked Pirates' clear control of the game. Whitworth out-shot the Lutes 16-6 on the day.

The Lutes were able to capitalize on one of the penalty kicks, giving them a 1-0 lead going into the second half.

Whitworth was held scoreless until well into the second half, when junior forward Whitney Ramsey tied it up in the 89th minute to force overtime.

Two minutes into overtime it was freshman defenseman Kaylyn Plumb who struck for the Pirates.

The women will travel to University of Puget Sound tomorrow to take on the reigning league champs at noon.
