Pirates fall to reigning champ UPS 1-0 in muddy game
Jordan Rusk, Staff WriterThe women’s soccer team faced an uphill battle as the cold rain created terrible playing conditions at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma on Sunday.
Whitworth controlled most of the game, getting twice as many shots on goal at the Loggers. However, senior Adrienne Folsom got a 30-yard breakaway at the 40 minute mark and scored the only goal of the game for UPS.
First place UPS improves to 10-0 overall this year, while Whitworth falls to second in the conference at 8-1-0 overall.
Whitworth will return home to Spokane for a week of practice before hosting Lewis and Clark College and Whitman College next weekend.
