An own-goal on behalf of Hardin-Simmons University's defense was the lone goal that put the Pirates on top of the Cowboys and sent Whitworth into the next round of the NCAA Division III tournament.

Sophomore midfielder Cameron Bushey sent the ball toward the goal early in the second half. The ball then bounced off Hardin-Simmons' goalie in the 64th minute to give Whitworth the 1-0 advantage.

Sophomore goalkeeper Brian Sherpe had a number of saves that kept the Pirates alive through the remainder of the half.

Whitworth is scheduled to face Dominican University on Sunday, Nov. 22.
