ASWU members met with the General Education and Curriculum Committee* this week to discuss possible adjustments and changes to curriculum. The members reported back to ASWU at the Assembly meeting Feb. 18.
At the moment, there are four distinct areas under discussion: Freshman seminar, Core 150, Core 300 (for continuing studies), and the American Diversity and Global Perspective requirements.
The committee is trying to redefine the meaning of these requirements and attempting to create a sense of consistency in the set of materials and values which could be applied to all the courses that meet the requirement.
PROPOSALS
After the campus-wide vote last week, students passed Proposal 1, but Proposal 2 did not pass with the necessary two-thirds majority. Financial Vice President Kendra Hamilton said Proposal 1 now allows ASWU to restructure for increased efficiency. However, any changes to the ASWU Constitution can only be made after a student-wide vote.
