Who are you?I grew up in Southern Oregon, where my family still lives. At Whitworth I play the flute in the Wind Symphony and enjoy watching sports. My favorite TV Series is the "West Wing." This is my fourth year in ASWU, in which I have been a representative, senator, executive vice president, and ending with senior class coordinator.
What do you do and why is it important?My main job is to get the senior class together to enjoy one last year at Whitworth. This is important to create an excellent experience for seniors leaving the university. The second aspect of my job is to be the student representative on the university's Commencement Committee. This is important as I assist them in coordinating all aspects of commencement, from getting students to apply to graduate to assisting with student speakers for Commencement Weekend.
What main issues or ideas do you hope to focus on while you serve on ASWU?I hope to focus on the topics that are important to the students. If the students are happy, I'm happy. But when concerns arise, it is important to hear from all parties and then choose the best course to have the most impact on the situation.
What is at least one common misconception about your work or ASWU?It is always surprising how few students actually know who we are or what we do. We do more then give away money. We are involved in all aspects of university life. Please come to a meeting and learn more about what we actually do on a weekly basis.
What is important for students to know about your work?I am an important resource in graduating and enjoying the last year at Whitworth. If there is something you need as a Whitworth senior, please let me know so that it can be taken care of.
