BALLARD SENATOR:
Emily Dickson
Year: Sophomore
Major: Elementary Education
Minors: Special Education/Spanish (still figuring this one out)
Who are you?I'm an adventurer, lover of travel and coffee, and resident of Lynden, Wash.
What do you do and why is it important? As Ballard senator, I write the weekly "Poopy Press" and organize dorm programs and service projects. By loving all the girls that live in the greatness that is Ballard Hall, I relay their opinions to ASWU and vice versa. This aspect of Whitworth University is extremely vital to the close-knit community that has been established on campus.
What main issues or ideas do you hope to focus on while you serve on ASWU?By serving on ASWU I hope to utilize my position as senator to bring people together. Cross-campus activities and building relationships are key to a successful campus family.
What is at least one common misconception about your work or ASWU?Most people assume all I do is write the bathroom newsletter. They usually don't know about the committees and budgeting.
What is important for students to know about your work?I want people to know that I'm available and open to hearing their ideas. I just want to be a big ear for our community, so that we can all work together.
